About the event
This year's Tony Sousa Memorial Car Show will be held at the Zimmerman
Automobile Driving Museum which is about 3/4 mile south-east of where the
1965 thru 1967 Shelby GT350 and GT500s were built, at LAX in El Segundo, CA.
Open to all Shelby, Cobra, Mustang, Ford and Shelby-Inspired Cars. Over 20 Classes
with 1st and 2nd place awards in all classes! Selection is by popular vote (by Car
Show registrants). We'll also have our Bruce "Gooch" Kawaguchi, Michael Holmes
and Best Of Show awards!
We'll have jazz musician, Herbie Hancock's 1963 Shelby Cobra on exhibit at our
event. In 1963, Herbie bought this Cobra from a dealer showroom in New York,
he is the longest living original owner of a Cobra. We'll have many original early
Cobras (CSX 2000 and CSX 3000 series) including Herbie Hancock's "#6" car.
Dave Friedman, former Shelby American photographer will be attending...
he'll have his latest book, Ken Miles: The Shelby American Years... if you'd like to
get a signed copy. Also, Bernie Kretzschmar, former Shelby American Team GT350
Crew Chief; Jim Marietta, former Shelby American mechanic and Ted Sutton, former
Shelby American mechanic... Jim will be bringing one of his OVC Mustangs.
A beautiful event t-shirt (artwork by Dutch artist, Huub Linnenbank) will be included
with each paid vehicle registration! Additional event t-shirts, as well as posters,
will be available for purchase at the car show.
Spectators are encouraged to attend for free... bring the entire family,
there will be food vendors on-site and there's plenty of street parking
available. Raffles, Vendors, Panel Discussion, Autograph Sessions,
GT350s, GT500s, Cobras and much more!
Food Service will be provided by Rick's Mobile Shack... Gourmet angus burgers,
Beef bacon wrapped hotdogs, Asada fries and more.
Our Car Show celebrates the life of Tony Sousa, who was our Club's
secretary and historian. Tony traveled all over the United States in
his 1965 Shelby GT350, as an ambassador to the marque.
